Awesome Possum Awesome Pods (Skills & Drills) will be 2-4pm on Saturdays beginning in November at Schenley Park Oval, on the grass next to the tennis courts. These are open to anyone & designed for everyone (from beginners to elite players) and will help develop throwing, defensive tactics, and more! Every Awesome PODssum will end with mini or small field scrimmaging, depending on space & numbers.
Did you know that opossums rarely have rabies? Or that they won't eat your dog or cat, but can safely eat garbage humans leave around that other wildlife can't, helping to keep nature more clean? Heck, they even have a protein that's immune to most snake venom which is helping researchers working to protect humans from snake bites.
The opossum, which Americans tend to shorten to “possum” (not to be confused with the Australian possum) is often maligned and feared due to its uncommon appearance and other characteristics. However, despite uninformed conceptions, “opossums make good neighbors” and add much to our world. Possums, much like us, all have value no matter how they are perceived. Awesome Possum is based on this premise and everything we do will be guided by the foundational value that all of us have value and deserve to be valued.
What will Awesome Possum do?
Awesome Possum will be hosting a variety of events open to everyone, including Ultimate Frisbee clinics, film nights, practices, games, and other activities. It’s in its infancy right now, so what Awesome Possum will fully be is yet to be seen!
